Season Culminates in Quarter Finals

The members of the Trojan Marching Band extend heartfelt congratulations to the 2012 Varsity Football Team for an impressive run through the IHSA Playoffs, all the way into the Quarter Finals. "We Love Our Team!"

The DGN Fine Arts Faculty and North High Administration thank the members of the Trojan Marching Band for a wonderfully spirited season, filled with great music and dedicated service to school and community. Best wishes to the band in the final week of preparations leading to the Disney Thanksgiving Parade of Bands.

DGN at the 2012 IMEA District 1 Jazz Festival

DGN was well represented in the 2012 IMEA District 1 Jazz Festival on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Lincoln-Way Central High School. Sixteen student musicians from DGN auditioned into the combo and the four jazz bands. Each ensemble rehearsed during the day with a guest conductor and presented a concert to culminate their learning.

Just over 100 students from more than 40 high schools participated in this event. Including the student musicians from South High School, more than 25% of the total student participation in the festival was from District 99. Literally one in every four students at the festival was from either North or South High School.

IMEA District Jazz Festival

Sixteen DGN jazz instrumentalists, selected for regional honors, are
on the campus of Lincoln-Way Central High School today participating
in rehearsals with the best student musicians in IMEA District 1.

Giving Tree Final Totals (2012)

Thanks to the students/families that gave so generously! 

Here are the final totals ...

3rd place ... Symphonic Band:  ($5.67/per person average)

2nd place .... Concert Band:  ($6.23/per person average)

1st place ... Wind Ensemble: ($7.96/per person average)

Total Number of Families we adopted:  3

Fundraising Goal (for 3 days): $1,025 ($5/per person)

Total Money Raised:  $1,338.90 ($6.53/per person average)

Percentage of Goal Achieved: 130% !!!

The terrific news here is two-fold:

1) Each band met the goal of $5/per person.
2) The generosity of the DGN Band will allow us to support an even greater number of children in need this holiday season.

New Leader In Giving Tree!

We have late-breaking news!  There is a NEW leader in our Giving Tree Campaign.  Wind Ensemble is NOT in 1st place anymore.  Do you think it's Concert Band?  Do you think it's Symphonic Band?  (We're not telling ...)

What we can tell you is that after 'Day 2' of our giving campaign, we are 75% of the way to our goal!  Currently, as a band family, we have raised $773.39, which is an average giving level of $3.77/per person.

Thanks to the students/families that have already given so generously!  If you have not made a donation yet, you still have one last chance tomorrow.  What can you give up this week that would allow you to consider at $5 donation in support of others?
