Jazz Class Auditions Update ...
Based on the results of the previous three days of
auditions, we need to modify our call-back schedule, as well as delay
the official “first day of class” for the jazz program.
Summary:

Friday, September 6: All Rhythm Section players
(piano/bass/drums/guitar).

Monday, September 9: Woodwind/Brass call-backs
(see list below).
·
Monday, September 9: Audition results posted on
DGN Band Blog by 6:00 PM.
·
Tuesday, September 10: First day of ‘zero period’
jazz classes (7:00 AM)
Note: Saxophone students were sent
an email indicating that their call-backs would be on Friday, September 6. We are pushing this group to Monday,
September 9.
Below you will find a list of the woodwind and brass
students we would like to hear again on Monday, September 9th. These students should come prepared to play,
if at all possible, the 1st chorus of “Friends”. While this was not originally a required
component of the audition for Jazz Lab Band, we have so many students who have
worked-up this piece that competition is tight.
You are not required to play ‘Friends’ on Monday, but please understand
that if you elect to opt-out completely, your score may not elevate to a level
that is competitive with students who do perform this component. It is to your advantage to practice this
piece over the weekend and perform it for us on Monday. Students may also have an opportunity to play
Billie’s Bounce and/or improvise on the blues, as time allows.
