Happy New Year DGN Bands! Mr. Miller and Mr. Teague are looking forward to seeing you back at DGN later this week (whenever the weather breaks). Here are a few important announcements regarding the coming week:
- On Tuesday, presuming school is open, all Fine Arts courses will be meeting in the Auditorium (during regularly scheduled class times) for advising and registration information. The information we will be sharing about Fine Arts elective course offerings at DGN will be most applicable to current Freshman, Sophomores and Juniors. Seniors may bring reading materials. Full band rehearsals will resume on Wednesday (which is a Late Start Day).
- Tuesday night is our first Pep Band performance of the Winter season. Call time = 5:45 PM. We are going to try "Theme Nights" this year, the first being "A Night In The Tropics!" Please wear anything that fits a "tropics" theme (within reason ... and meets with school dress code!).
- Band Board will NOT meet on Wednesday at 9:30 AM (as is our general practice on Late Start Days).
- Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band classes will have a "make up" class (due to the Snow Day) on Wednesday morning, beginning at 9:00 AM. Students may enter the Music Hall beginning at 8:45 AM to set up instruments and warm up for class.
- The Jazz Cafe charity benefit concert is Friday night, January 10th, beginning at 6:30 PM in the Student Cafe. The concert is free, and open to the public. Free-will donations will be accepted for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. This concert is a community favorite, and will feature the jazz bands from Herrick, Jefferson, and DGN. Come on out and support your jazz friends!
As for the Snow Day tomorrow ...
Sleep in. Eat a warm/healthy breakfast. Stay safe. Consider the Public Service Announcement above.
See you soon!
