First, we want to thank those students who have already been contributing (over the past two days) to our “Giving Tree” program.
Parents, we wanted to make sure you are aware that our band classes are participating in the school’s initiative to support those in need over the holidays. The DGN Band has adopted 18 children for the holidays, and we are working (with our Direct Action Club at DGN) to raise money for Christmas gifts in support of these children.
Our goal is to raise at least $900 - $1,000 to support the 18 children, amounting to roughly $50 of gifts for each child.
As of today, we have raised a total of $404.08. This averages out to $1.90 of giving per band student. (We need to average $5.00 per student to reach our goal.)
Tomorrow (Friday) will be our final day to collect donations for these 18 children. If you would like to make a donation to our “Giving Tree” efforts, please bring the money with you to class.
Sometimes parents and students ask if we can accept a check for these donations. The answer is yes. If you would like to donate by check, please make it payable to “DGN Bands.” We will deposit the check into an account at school, just as we deposit all cash donations. For accounting purposes, all gifts purchased are reimbursed through our Bookkeeper.
