Leadership Training Workshop

Led by Fine Arts teacher Bill Miller, 30 North High Band students are on campus this week exploring strategies for effective leadership.  Today's activities have included 'live blogging' by students as they set goals for the upcoming season and an activity where - working in small teams - students linked their views of leadership to "Heroes" from society and produced multi-media presentations to share with their peers.

"It's wonderful to be back on campus and working with these talented student leaders," said Bill Miller.  Drum major Elizabeth Meier (senior) added, "I'm very excited to gain new perspectives about student leadership. This should be a great week, and an amazing marching band season."

Marching Band Leadership Team 2010-2011

A special thanks is extended to all DGN Band students who auditioned to be a part of the 2010-2011 Marching Band Leadership Team.  Nearly 60 students auditioned for less than 30 positions.  We appreciate all of the effort that students put into their auditions.

A list of this year's Leadership Team (excluding Percussion and Guard - which will be determined in May) will be launched on the North Band's Blackboard 'Organization' site at 5 PM this evening.  Students looking for a roster of the team are asked to log into Blackboard after 5 PM.

Student Leaders get ready for Band Camp 2009

27 members of the Marching Band's Leadership Team spent this past Thursday and Friday preparing music folders, setting up lockers, decorating the band room, and generally getting everything ready for Band Camp '09. Thanks to our dedicated team!

Band Leaders Gear Up

Members of the DGN Marching Band's Student Leadership Team are meeting this week for three intensive days of training. On Monday students participated in both teams training and high-ropes course training at Lincoln-Marsh in Wheaton, IL.

Drum Majors attend 'Music For All' Leadership Training

DGN Trojan Marching Band Drum Majors are attending the "Music For All" Summer Symposium this week. Seven days of intensive training kicked off on Saturday with the Leadership Weekend.
