Taking It To The Next Level ...

Many DGN Band alumni take their love of music with them to the college ranks and share their talents with the world on a larger stage.  Here are just a few examples of some familiar faces seen performing with major college Marching Bands this past weekend ...

Tine Greene (DGN '15) performs with the Kansas State University "Pride of Wildcat Land."  The KSU Band was awarded the "Sudler Trophy" this past weekend, which is given to just one college band every two years to honor superior musicianship and marching precision.

Jennifer Vetrone (DGN '15) performs with the trumpet section of the nationally renown "Marching Illini."

From L-R: Adam Behnke (DGN '15), Gwen Cortez (DGN '14), Lauren Barbato (DGN '14), Robin Younker (DGN '15) and Tommy Donnelly (DGN '14) are all members of the Purdue University "All American Marching Band."

Get involved! DGN Band Board! (Officers & Staff Application Now Available)

Student leadership is a very important part of our success as a band organization, and our current system is the result of a process that has evolved over many years.  There are four different groups of students that will make up the “Band Board.”  They are 1) the Drum Majors, 2) the Band Staff, 3) the Band Officers, and 4) Band Class Representatives.  Each of the groups are explained below.   The Band Board will meet once each month with the directors and will be asked for input on a variety of issues relating to the band activities of North High School.  The Band Board is also in charge of planning the Band Awards Banquet at the end of the school year.

•             Band Officers:  Band officers will be elected Wednesday, September 23.  Offices include:  President and Vice-President.  If you are interested in running for a Band Officer position, please indicate so by visiting the website listed below, and filling out the online interest survey.  You must complete the survey by Saturday, September 19, 2015.

•             Band Class Representatives:  We elect two students from each band class (Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble) to represent their peers at Band Board meetings. You must complete the survey by Saturday, September 19, 2015.

•             Band Staff:  Band Staff positions include Music Librarians (one or two for each band class), two Equipment Managers, two Publicity Chairs, and two Historians.  Students interested in any of the above positions should visit the website listed below, and fill out the online interest survey.   You must complete the survey by Saturday, September 19, 2015.

•             Drum Majors:  Are selected through an audition process each Spring.  They are the conduit to the Band Board from the Marching Band Leadership Team.

If you are interested in running for a Band Officer, Band Class Representative, or being considered for a Student Band Staff position, please click this link and complete the online form.  You must be signed-in to Google with your CSD99 credentials to complete the form.
