Congratulations to our football team for advancing to
Round 2 of the IHSA State Playoffs, following an incredible shut-out performance against previously unbeaten Whitney-Young High School this past Friday (28-0). A special shout-out to trombonist/quarterback Sebastian Calvino for his two-TDs.
The Round 2 game will be at Wheaton Warrenville South High School. The band will travel with the
team to help bring home the next victory!
On Monday, we will send home (via email to parent email addresses), the final schedule. We will also post that information to our blog, in case the email server is inconsistent with delivery (a reported challenge we have been addressing this fall at DGN).
Here is the TENTATIVE schedule for November 8:
5:30 AM DGN
Band students participate in ABC-7 Fly-Over Filming @DGN
8:00 AM School
begins (7:00 AM Early Bird Classes will be held.)
1:30 PM School
Ends (Early Dismissal Day). Students return
home to rest/nap, eat lunch/dinner.
5:00 PM Report
to North; change into warm spirit wear and band storm coats – Bring ball caps,
winter cap, warm gloves, etc.
5:15 PM Load
buses.
5:30 PM Depart
for WWSHS
7:00 PM Kickoff! - Play and Cheer in
stands
9:30 PM * Game ends – Load buses, head home
10:00 PM * Arrive at DGN, unload, return storm

Parents: This is a required performance. Dates were first announced at the beginning
of the season at our parent meeting and in the band handbook. If your family has what you consider to be an
unavoidable conflict with the performance, you will need to return the excused absence
form that will be made available on Monday, November 4th, by WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6. Requests for an excused absence will not
be considered after that time. Some of our students are participating in the
Fall Play – these absences will be excused.
Students participating in the Fall Play may turn in the Excused Absence
form WITHOUT parent signature. Only
students requesting an excused absence need to submit the form on the reverse
of this page.
